UMO: Trojans, Brevard play to 1-1 draw

BREVARD -- In-state rivals University of Mount Olive and Brevard College played a 1-1 draw during their non-conference men's soccer match on Tuesday evening.

Two lightning delays and lack of lighting ended the game in regulation.

The Trojans (0-6-1 overall) broke the tie in the 58th on Lewis Xiberras' goal off Dauda Sanoh's assist. Brevard collected the equalizer with 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Bernando Mejia posted four saves for the Trojans.

UMO returns to action Saturday for a Conference Carolinas match against Lees-McRae. Kickoff is 4 p.m.

Women's volleyball

MOUNT OLIVE -- Arch rival Barton College handed University of Mount Olive a 25-12, 25-12, 25-19 defeat inside Kornegay Arena on Tuesday evening.

Karley Pounds led the Trojans' offense with 10 kills. Casey Feichter led the defense with 14 digs, while Britni Johnson served a pair of aces. Freshman Kamber Skeen passed out 23 assists.

The Bulldogs held the Trojans to a minus-.019 hitting percentage during the three-set affair.

Mount Olive (7-7 overall, 2-3 CC) travels to Converse (SC) College on Friday and is the guest of Limestone (SC) on Saturday afternoon.
