PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools

JV

* Volleyball: South Central d. Eastern Wayne 25-17, 25-21 -- Ziomara Williams had the Warriors' lone kill. Demya Yelverton served three aces, while sophomore Haley Taff collected two aces. Sophomore Brittany Atkinson posted two solo blocks.

* Volleyball: Oakwood d. Wayne Country Day 25-14, 25-20 -- Elizabeth Johnson led the Chargers with four kills. Lexi Jeffreys and Whitney Hoskins each had three kills. Elizabeth Johnson served four aces. Cate Eagles dished out seven assists and Jeffreys posted five digs.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Greenwood 25-9, 25-6, 25-20 -- Alissa Price registered six aces and Virginia Edmondson added two aces during the Gators' straight-set win. Spring Creek (3-2 overall) visits Norwayne today.

* Football: Norwayne 54, Spring Creek 0 -- Elisha Davis, Omar Tucker, Hunter Theriac, Tylil Faison, Ashton Perozzenni, Styles Kendal and Clay Matthews all scored on offense for the Cobras. Defensive leaders were Tucker, Faison (interception return for a touchdown) and Jamar Best (fumble recovery). Norwayne visits Greenwood next Wednesday.

* Football: Mount Olive 30, Brogden 28 -- Ryan Norton threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Jerome Moore with 19 seconds left to seal the Chargers' comeback Wednesday afternoon. Moore, Paulensky Francis and Josh McCullen each rushed for a touchdown. Norton and Jordan Hudson each recovered a fumble and Austin Espinosa logged eight tackles. Mount Olive improved to 2-1 overall.
