FOOTBALL: Rosewood lights up Hobbton

NEWTON GROVE -- Rosewood posted two touchdowns in each quarter and hammered out a 56-34 shootout win over Hobbton in the Carolina 1-A Conference opener for both teams Friday evening.

Cameron Helt, Tronqull Blue and Michael Reid accounted for six rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, who extended their win streak to three games.

Helt amassed 240 yards of total offense -- 206 yards and three TDs on the ground, and three completions to Alex Godwin. Two Godwin receptions resulted in touchdowns of 17 and 12 yards.

Blue rambled for 179 yards, which included touchdown runs of 18 and 1 yard. Reid, who rushed for a season-high 133 yards, contributed a 29-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Daniel Aburto and Stalen Massengill were each a perfect 4 for 4 on PAT attempts.

Rosewood (3-3 overall, 1-0 CC) is the guest of James Kenan next Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Bill Taylor Field.
