VOLLEYBALL: Herring helps spark Gators past Rebels

CALYPSO -- Kayla Herring played a solid all-round game as Spring Creek swept North Duplin 26-24, 25-15, 25-19 in a Carolina 1-A Conference match Tuesday afternoon.
Herring logged eight kills, eight service aces and three digs.
Fernanda Martinez contributed seven kills and two aces. Shae Odom paced the Gators' defense with nine digs.
Ivet Carreno dished out 19 assists.
Haley Brogden and Taylor Walker pounded out eight and seven kills, respectively, for the Rebels. Anna Thornton passed out 16 assists. Brogden and Maddie Swinson each had four digs on defense.
Brogden served four aces.
North Duplin dropped to 2-4 overall land 1-2 in league play this season.
