GIRLS' GOLF: Sauls leads CBA with a 47

AYDEN -- Abby Sauls scored a 47 and Charles B. Aycock finished second overall in the first Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet of the season played at Ayden Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Leah Campbell and Savannah Strickland shot 52 and 57, respectively, to complete the Golden Falcons' team score of 156. Anna Williams turned in a 58.
Southern Wayne, led by Cathryn Jones' round of 52, placed fourth overall with a 172 in the five-team affair. Amanda Murphy and Lauren Davis posted nine-hole scores of 57 and 63, respectively.
New Bern won the team portion with a 135. D.H. Conley took third with a 164. South Central shot a 181.
CBA returns to action Thursday afternoon at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course. The Saints continue play next Monday in an ECC meet at Southern Wayne Country Club.
