WINTERVILLE -- Eastern Wayne launched its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference campaign with a 7-2 conquest of South Central on Tuesday afternoon.
Elizabeth Sutton, Bella Bowen, Samantha Roux and Emily Stratton each prevailed in singles play for the Warriors. Sutton lost just one game.
EW swept the doubles with Sutton-Emily Uzzell, Bowen-Maddie Agner and Roux-Stratton. Roux-Stratton topped the Falcons' tandem of Marisa Crisp-Samantha Edgerton 9-8 (3) at the No. 3 flight.
"(I) continued to see improvement in singles with longer rallies, footwork and shot selection," EW head coach Craig Hassell said. "I was very pleased with doubles as we fought hard to win all three."
The Warriors (1-1 overall, 1-0 ECC) face reigning ECC co-champion New Bern on Thursday afternoon.
