Trojans' Brite earns all-state accolades

MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive senior Dontrell Brite earned first-team accolades on the N.C. Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) on Monday.
Brite, who earned all-state recognition for the third consecutive year, emerged as just one of 10 players to represent eight different in-state universities and colleges on this season's NCCSIA squads. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionsls and voted on by NCCSIA members.
The Virginia native averaged 13.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game, and garnered first-team all-Conference Carolinas accolades. He shot 44 percent from the field, 82.2 percent at the free throw and concluded his career with 1,624 points -- fifth-best on UMO's all-time career scoring chart.
Brite ranks third all-time in school history with 483 assists.
