ECBL: CBA White, Eastern Wayne split DH

C.B. Aycock White 8-1, Eastern Wayne 7-4
* PIKEVILLE -- Blake Dilda permitted six hits and fanned five Eastern Wayne batters during a three-inning stint, and Charles B. Aycock White squeezed out an 8-7 victory in game one of an Eastern Carolina Baseball League doubleheader.
EW took the nightcap, 4-1, at Charles Davis Field.
Zack Brewer earned the save behind Dilda with two innings of three-hit, three-strikeout relief. Brewer emerged one of six CBA players to register a hit along with Dilda (RBI), Caleb Matthews (two RBI), Davis Carroll, Trey Smith (RBI) and Noah Overton (RBI).
Dilda and Christian Brady cranked out two hits apiece in game two. Caleb Matthews batted 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI.
Matthews endured the pitching loss. He yielded two runs on two hits and two walks, and retired three EW hitters on strikeouts. Overton, Clay Matthews and Tyrie Artis combined for three innings of three-hit, three-strikeout relief.
EW statistics were not available.
Weather permitting, the two teams return to action today. CBA White plays host to Southern Wayne White, while Eastern Wayne travels to Wayne Country Day.
