MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive quartet Zak Orrison, Brighton Hudson, Bruce Zimmerman and Stephen Wallace have received postseason accolades from several collegiate organizations.
Orrison earned a nod on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings first team. The Fuquay-Varina native also drew second-team acknowledgement from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Conference Commissioners Association. Orrison batted .375 with 39 stolen bases and will graduate as the program's all-time career leader in SBs with 114.
Zimmerman, who hails from Maryland, is an ABCA all-Southeast Region first-team pick, second-team CCA selection and an honorable mention all-Southeast Region recipient by the NBCWA. The left-hander made two appearances in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. He worked 62/3 innings and retired 10 opposing batters on strikeouts.
A sophomore from Garner, Hudson was an NCBWA all-Southeast Region honorable mention pick. He logged a complete-game victory over top-seeded Columbus State (Ga.) University in elimination-round play.
