Playoff path: def. Northampton County, 18-0 (5 inn.); def. East Columbus, 3-2; def. East Carteret, 2-1; def. Perquimans, 4-0.

Key performers: Brianna Myers, Taylor Carroll, Hayley Wood, Kelsey Peedin and Beth Braswell... explosive offensive group has accounted for 66 percent of team's total hits (222) and RBI (164) this spring... team carries an on-base percentage of .489 with 12 home runs... led in the circle by Appalachian State signee Hailey Wood, who is 14-1 on the spring with a microscopic ERA (earned run average) of 0.42... has allowed just three runs in 25 postseason innings.

PHS athletics director Marty Gurganus: "This (regional series) just says a lot about the Carolina 1-A Conference," Gurganus said, "to know that regardless of who wins this series, the Carolina 1-A Conference, for the second year in a row, will have a team play for the state championship. It's exciting."

Key performers: Rylee Pate, Haley Brogden, Shaily McCarty, Alyssa Santos and Courtney Brock... group has combined to hit .414 on the season with 134 RBI and 14 home runs... The Book of Pate -- senior Riley has been untouchable this spring, compiling a 12-2 mark that includes 10 complete games, five no-no's and two perfect outings... has tossed 181 strikeouts in 81.3 innings, including 12-plus strikeouts or more in nine games... experienced righty has issued 57 playoff strikeouts in four games, and held opponents scoreless for 24 consecutive innings until Northside scored four runs in the sixth inning last Friday evening... committed to play at UNC-Wilmington.
