1A PLAYOFFS: Rebels' Pate tosses perfect game against Gates County

CALYPSO -- Rylee Pate tossed a perfect game as North Duplin silenced Gates County, 3-0, in second round play of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 1-A softball playoffs.
The junior's effort included a staggering 16 strikeouts.
North Duplin (18-3 overall) received two hits from Mikayla Koch and a 1-3 performance at the plate from junior Haley Brogden.
Gates County ended its season with a 12-10 record. The Rebels face the winner of Trask-Manteo next week.
