Sullivan has 3-hit outing during Hawks' playoff win

La GRANGE -- Jackson Sullivan cranked out three hits as North Lenoir slipped past Red Springs, 9-8, in first-round play of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
Will Braxton and Quentin Pittman logged two hits apiece. Braxton Greene and Garrett Letchworth each drove in two runs.
Letchworth threw one inning of one-strikeout relief to earn the save behind middle reliever Greene, who tossed one-third of an inning to get the win. Drew Rogers started and surrendered eight runs (three earned) on 10 hits and four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings on the hill.
North Lenoir (15-6 overall) faces county rival South Lenoir in the second round.
