Aycock's Shingleton, Waddell smash homers against Saints

PIKEVILLE -- Allison Shingleton and Taylor Waddell each swatted a home run as Charles B. Aycock dispatched Southern Wayne, 14-4, from the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A playoffs on Tuesday evening.
Shingleton and Waddell each had three RBI. Shingleton earned the mound win and Allie Phillips tossed three innings in relief.
Madison Walton supplied three hits and two RBI for the top-seeded Golden Falcons. Connor Vinson, Mookie Powell (three RBI), Shingleton and Waddell each concluded the day with two hits.
University of Mount Olive signee Kelsey Hayes and teammate Amber Pfennig (three RBI) pounded out two hits apiece for the Saints.
