CLINTON -- After a one-year absence, Rosewood is returning to the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A boys' golf state championships.
Andrew Ingram fired an 83 and the Eagles claimed the Mideast Regional team crown with a four-player total of 353 on the Coharie Country Club links. Dylan Champion posted an 85, followed by Jeremy Mercer (87) and Cameron Klages (98).
"The guys played well on a tough course today," first-year RHS head coach Rick Grantham said. "They believed they had a good chance coming into regionals if they played well. We are very proud of them and (we're) looking forward to Monday and Tuesday in Pinehurst."
The 1-A state finals, a 36-hole event, will be played at Longleaf Golf and County Club. The par-71 course will play 6,513 yards.
Rosewood finished eighth as a team in the state finals 2014.
