SEVEN SPRINGS -- Scoreless through three innings, Princeton erupted for five fourth-inning runs and rode the momentum to a 9-2 victory over Spring Creek at "The Swamp" on Tuesday evening.

The Gators suffered their first Carolina 1-A Conference defeat in 11 outings this season.

Nick Phillips (RBI), Alex Hickman (RBI), Hunter Mitchell and Matt Daughtry pounded out two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Princeton had 12 hits overall against SC, which used three pitchers.

Daughtry tossed six innings and permitted one earned run on nine hits. Matt Boyette hurled one inning of one-hit, one-strikeout relief.

Hunter Walker (RBI), Landon Smothers and Kaden Geelen each had two hits for the Gators. Will Rouse contributed one hit and one RBI.

Rouse, Sawyer Smith and Walker each saw mound time for SC. The trio combined for six strikeouts. Three of Princeton's runs were unearned.

Weather permitting, Spring Creek (13-6 overall, 10-1 CC) plays host to Rosewood on Thursday. Princeton (16-5, 8-3) travels to North Duplin on the same evening.
