HOLLYWOOD CROSSROADS -- D.H. Conley struck for six runs during the first 21/3 innings of action and handed Charles B. Aycock a 6-2 defeat in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Monday evening.
The Vikings cranked out eight hits against Golden Falcons starter Kyle Davis, who endured his second mound loss of the season. Reliever Landon Casey limited the Vikings to three hits and posted two strikeouts in 32/3 innings of work.
"Conley swung the bats well early on in the game," CBA head coach Charles Davis said. "I was very pleased with Landon's outing. With us having three big conference games this week, he stole some innings for us last night. There's nothing good about losing (but) yesterday I thought we competed, and played hard.
"I was very proud of that."
Kyle Davis, Chandler Matthews and Mason Watt (doubled) scratched out one hit apiece against DHC starter Phillip Sanderson. He yielded two earned runs and registered 10 strikeouts.
"(Sanderson) was dag-gone pretty good yesterday," coach Davis said.
Aycock returns home today against South Central.
