Cougars take second in ECC 2A boys' tennis action

Goldsboro swept the doubles courts and finished runner-up in Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference play with a 7-2 victory over Greene Central on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars extended their win streak to six.
"(I) am very proud of my players who have show a lot of heart and determination this season," GHS head coach Steven Fine said.
Xan Pate, Caleb Whitted, Garrett Boykin and Amon McEachern each emerged victorious in singles play for Goldsboro. Boykin battled back to defeat the Rams' Drake Robowt 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 5 singles.
Pate-Holden Jones, Whitted-Aaron Podbielski and Boykin-McEachern each claimed a point in doubles action.
GC won at Nos. 2 and 3 singles.
Goldsboro (8-5 overall) finished 5-3 against ECC opposition.
