Golden Falcons' Mooneyham, Holt break school track records

NEW BERN -- Joseph Mooneyham and Trevor Holt each broke a school record during a four-team Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet hosted by New Bern on Wednesday afternoon.
Mooneyham claimed the 3,200-meter run with a personal- and program-best 10 minutes, 19 seconds. Holt heaved the discus 138 feet, breaking the old mark (133-3) set by Chris Gustafson in the eastern 3-A regionals in 2009.
Holt also won the shot put.
Deshawn Owens logged two personal-best times and participated on the winning 4x8 relay team. Owens emerged victorious in the 800-meter run with a PR (personal record) of 2 minutes, 11 seconds. He took second in the 1,600 with a PR of 4:56.
Joining Owens on the meet-winning relay were Cameron Sims, David McIver and John Parrish. The group posted a time of 8:54.
Sims took second in the 3,200 with a PR of 10:56. Kamarion Graham placed second in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
John Rodriguez won the triple jump.
Aycock tallied a meet-best 91 points as a team. The Bears took second with 60, followed by Eastern Wayne (55) and D.H. Conley (47).
