WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock pushed across six runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, and knocked Sun Valley on day two of the third annual Golden Leaf Invitational on Monday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons tied the game at 1-all in the fifth.
Ashton McGee hit into a one-out fielder's choice. Cameron Kornegay followed with a fielder's choice and McGee advanced to third. With runners on the corners, McGee stole home on a perfectly-executed delay steal.
Aycock manufactured five sixth-inning runs. Kyle Davis connected on a lead-off single. Sun Valley's pitching staff issued four walks and hit a batter, which helped the Golden Falcons build a comfortable margin.
"They were a little bit wild," CBA head coach Charles Davis said.
The bullpen tandem of Jacob Sanford and Landon Casey combined for a three-hitter on the bump. Sanford, who emerged as the winning pitcher, gave up an unearned run on one hit and struck out six Sun Valley batters.
Casey logged the save with one inning of two-hit, one-strikeout relief.
"We were fine on the mound," Davis said of his two pitchers.
Chandler Matthews (RBI), Sanford, Kyle Davis and Bryce Anders provided one hit apiece as Aycock improved to 13-0 overall this season. They concluded Invitational play against Jamestown Ragsdale this morning.
