Saints edge Firebirds in 9 innings

Southern Wayne pushed across the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning, and upended Southern Wayne, 5-4, on Saturday evening.
The Saints led 4-1 until the Firebirds tied the game with three-run seventh inning.

Southern Wayne (2-0 overall) continues play Wednesday at South Lenoir.
