1A PLAYOFFS: Rosewood girls advance to 3rd round

Rosewood is headed back to the third round of the N.C. High School Associon Class 1-A girls' basketball playoffs.
Lexi Mercer provided a game-high 27 points as the fourth-seeded Eagles turned back Weldon, 55-46. The senior shooting forward jumped to 12th on the all-time career scoring list in North Carolina history.
Fourth-seeded Rosewood (24-3 overall) extended its win streak to 17 and entertains fifth-seeded Southeast Halifax on Saturday. A game time has not been annoucned.
Payton Lane, Hannah Daniels, Alyssa Garrison and Jala Holloman knocked down six points apiece. Tayzlie Tripple and Nekia Williams each scored 12 points.
The Eagles' senior class is 8-0 in home playoff games.
