Oates drops in 33 points, Wayne Christian boys advance

Darian Oates poured in a game-high 33 points as Wayne Christian upended Lee Christian, 78-55, in opening-round play of the 2016 Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament Tuesday evening.
Ty McClain added 17 points for the Eagles.
Wayne Christian (16-10 overall) faces CCC regular-season champion Northwood Temple, which is the No. 1-ranked team among the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A ranks, on Thursday. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. at Cape Fear Christian Academy.
