LITTLEFIELD -- Goldsboro wiped the glass for a season-high 72 rebounds and crushed Ayden-Grifton, 63-28, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference game Tuesday evening.

Destiny Lucas snared 12 rebounds and Sterling Jones pulled down nine rebounds for the Cougars, who snapped a two-game skid.

Tyona Moses emerged as the game's leading scorer with 27 points. The senior remained on the bench the final 10 minutes as head coach LaTina Bullock played her reserves the remainder of the game.

Tawanna Jones and starter McKayla Roberts scored eight points apiece. In all, nine of 10 Goldsboro players scratched in the scorebook.

"The girls played well, and we had to rebound from the Kinston and South Lenoir game that we lost by one (point)," GHS assistant coach Zeara McDuffie. "It's a good step into what I'm hoping is a long (playoff) season for us. We worked as a team, get up (in the score) so we can get some rest for Friday.

"Our role players really stepped up."

Goldsboro (12-8 overall, 6-3 ECC) concludes regular-season play at home Friday against Greene Central. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at Norvell T. Lee Gym.
