PIKEVILLE -- The Charles B. Aycock boys' basketball team led South Central, 12-6, in the first quarter during Tuesday night's game.

The Golden Falcons tied the game at 36-all in the third quarter, but South Central went on to defeat CBA, 51-41, with full-court pressure and transition baskets in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play.

"The gameplan coming in was we had to slow down to take the air out of the bag," CBA head basketball coach Dave Elmore said. "Limit their number of possessions because they're (South Central) a team...that's good at pressuring, gettting steals and getting out in tranistion."

The Golden Falcons trailed South Central, 23-18, at halftime.

Senior Majestic Jordan stole the ball from CBA, which led to an assist from junior Monquaze Whichard to senior Jae'tavion Edwards. Edwards hit a 2-point jumper, and the SC Falcons began their run to a 36-33 fourth-quarter lead.

Senior Cameron Kornegay passed the ball to senior Ian Best for a 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter. The Golden Falcons tied the game.

But freshman Jahzeer Baker answered CBA with a 3-pointer of his own. Baker stole the ball at half court and drove the lane for two points. Jordan snatched the ball from the Golden Falcons and scored in transition. Edwards buried a 3, and the Falcons led CBA, 45-38, with three minutes remaining in regulation.

Sophomore Eli Batts knocked down a 3-pointer, but the end-of-game buzzer sounded.

"In the first half, we were doing great," Elmore said. "We had a little bit of a lead, got some turnovers and we thought we could get out and run in transition and be an up-and-down team like they (SC) are, but we can't. That let them back into the game."

Best ended the game with 14 points, and Batts recorded nine points for the Golden Falcons.

Edwards finished with 20 points, and Jordan ended the game with 12 points. CBA (7-13 overall, 1-8 conference) travels to New Bern to face the Bears on Friday.
