PRINCETON -- Jordan Benson played a solid all-around floor game as Princeton earned a come-from-behind, 39-36 triumph over Carolina 1-A Conference foe James Kenan on Thursday evening.
The Tigers led 32-29 after three quarters. The Bulldogs (6-10 overall) outscored their visitors 10-4 in the final period and picked up their second league win in six tries this season.
Benson finished with 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. Teammate Jazmaine McCain contributed two points, 10 rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots.
"I am very proud of the way we fought back tonight," PHS head coach Marty Gurganus said. "There was a point early in the conest when the game could have gotten away from us, but the girls worked hard to trim to the (JK) lead to two at the half.
"We tied the game early in the second half and took a two-point lead only to get down by seven. Again the girls fought back to take the lead. Our defense late in the game proved to be the difference."
Princeton heads to Neuse Charter next Tuesday.
