HOLLYWOOD CROSSROADS -- Injury-bitten Charles B. Aycock escaped unscathed during a three-team Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet contested at D.H. Conley on Wednesday evening.
The Golden Falcons upended league-leading and county archrival Eastern Wayne 45-30, and handed the host Vikings a 39-34 defeat.
"Tonight was a good night for Aycock wrestling. I say good, not great," Golden Falcons head coach RJ Allen said. "We did win both of our matches, but they were tough and came down to the last few (individual) matches each time. Eastern Wayne is really becoming a great wrestling team and we had our hands full with them tonight."
Aycock collected individual victories from 126-pounder Hayden Gurley, Tyler Marquard (138 pounds), Zach Creel (145), Chase Hapes (152), junior Joshua Wallace (170), Jaret Paynter (195), Jonathan Girard (220) and heavyweight Brandon Washington.
Mario Harper, Jonathan Harris, Cainen Miller, Ryshon Rodwell, Ian Gutierrez and Jordan Wooten each emerged victorious for the Warriors.
CBA leads the all-time series 27-0.
Gurley, Marquard, Hapes, Josh Wall, Brandon Washington, Girard and Austin Doyle each had their hand raised in victory against Conley. Marquard, Hapes and Washington each pinned their respective opponent.
The Golden Falcons (22-12 overall, 3-1 ECC) conclude regular-season action at home next Wednesday against ECC foes J.H. Rose and Southern Wayne.
Eastern Wayne returns home today to face county foe Rosewood and North Johnston.
