SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek watched its 17-point halftime lead disappear in the third quarter, and eventually see James Kenan pull away for a 70-59 victory Friday evening.
It was the first meeting of the season between the Gators and Tigers, who shared the Carolina 1-A Conference title a year ago.
"We took two timeouts in the first three minutes to try and stop the run, but their full-court pressure really got to us," SC head coach Taylor Jones said. "Once we focused back on the game, we were within two to five points the whole fourth quarter until we had to start fouling and that was the game."
Devonte Williams paced four Gators in double figures with 13 points. Dominique Morse registered 12 points. Najee Young logged 11 points and freshman Landon Smothers provided 10 points.
Spring Creek (2-13 overall, 1-5 CC) entertains North Duplin on Tuesday.
