* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 53, Pope John Paul 37 -- Marcus Metcalf paced the visiting Chargers with 16 points. Teammate Will Rose chipped in 13. WCDS (12-2 overall) plays host to Terra Ceia today.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 28, Wayne School of Engineering 20 -- Katie Parrish paced the Cobras' offense with 12 points. Trinayah Harris and Jada Spruill chipped in five points apiece. Grace Tart emerged as WSE's top scorer with eight points. Norwayne (4-4 overall) entertains Grantham on Jan. 22.
* Girls' basketball: Greenwood 44, Grantham 33 -- Aleesha Boyette tallied a game-high 24 points for the T-Birds, who improved to 8-1 overall this season. Morgan Kennedy and Daylan Wiggs collected 19 and five points, respectively, for Grantham (3-6).
* Girls' basketball: Dillard 42, Spring Creek 16 -- Dyamond George posted 24 points as the Tigers remained perfect in 10 outings this season. Ania Sands contributed 14 points and dished out seven assists. Ikenya King supplied eight rebounds and blocked five shots. Virginia Edmundson scored eight points for the Gators.
