Saints' Atkins notches double-double against Warriors

JACKSONVILLE -- Zaria Atkins posted a double-double as Southern Wayne upended county rival Eastern Wayne, 50-44, in the East Coast Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
Atkins poured in a game-high 23 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out six assists and collected seven steals. The senior guard earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
Tied at 42-42 with 2:59 remaining, EW's Treycie Ford drained two free throws. The Saints ended the game with an 8-2 run that included a technical foul on Warriors head coach Phil Gray.
Iyahna Bess contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Anastasia McNair provided eight points.
Naheria Hamilton paced Eastern Wayne with 14 points. Perry supplied 10 points, while Nyesha Best chipped in nine.
