* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 65, Eastern Wayne 41 -- Aaron Smith emerged as the Cougars' leading scorer with 21 points. Jarrod Scott added 18, while Damien Brown collected eight points.
* Boys' basketball: Alamance 41, Goldsboro Heat 41 -- Harman Kaler paced the Heat with a double-double -- 10 points, 10 rebounds. Luke Parks recorded seven points and hauled down six rebounds. Goldsboro (1-5 overall) returns to action Jan. 5, 2016.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro Heat d. Alamance (2 OTs) -- Hayden Portela logged 25 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in the Heat's comeback win. Luke Parks contributed 14 points, four rebounds and blocked shots.
