* Boy's basketball: Charles B. Aycock 46, South Johnston 42 -- Tayquan Hampton led the Golden Falcons' attack with 16 points. Damone Greenfield knocked down 10 points. Muhammad Brooks scored eight points.
* Girls' basketball: South Johnston 34, C.B. Aycock 25 -- Sharon Moorefield emerged as the Golden Falcons' top scorer with eight points, while Darilyn Lancaster chipped in five points.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Rosewood 39, Eastern Wayne 29 -- Rylee Myers led the Eagles' offense with 15 points. Teammates Laine Marak and Kaitlyn Smith scored 10 and six points, respectively. Rosewood entertains Norwayne on Thursday.
* Girls' basketball: Dillard 33, Grantham 18 -- Dyamond George emerged as the Tigers' top scorer with 13 points. Ania Sands posted eight points and dished out 10 assists. Ikenya King added eight points. Morgan Kennedy led Grantham with eight points, while Alissa Meadows scored five points. Dillard (3-0 overall) travels to Greenwood on Thursday, while Grantham (1-1) plays host to Eastern Wayne the same afternoon.
* Boys' basketball: Eastern Wayne 39, Rosewood 31 -- Townsend Tripple pumped in 18 points for the Eagles. Logan Price and Trent Lancaster scored three points apiece. Rosewood (2-1 overall) plays host to Norwayne on Thursday.
