Southern Wayne 71
* Goldsboro bolted to a 26-point lead after one quarter and cruised past county rival Southern Wayne, 102-71, inside Norvell T. Lee Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
Point guard Myron Carmon paced the Cougars' offense with a team- and game-high 33 points. Kisheem Faison tallied points. Jaryan Hargis and Isaiah Wilder chipped in nine points apiece.
Goldsboro returns to action Wednesday at Eastern Wayne.
Girls' basketball
Goldsboro 48, Southern Wayne 39
* Goldsboro's backcourt tandem of Destiny Covington and Tyona Moses picked up 16 points apiece in a 48-39, non-conference win over Southern Wayne on Wednesday.
Zaria Atkins tossed in 21 points and snagged eight rebounds for the Saints.
The Cougars return to action today in a holiday tournament at Clinton.
Wrestling
Eagles finish 5-0
* RED OAK -- Hunter Weeks and Seth Finney each collected four individual victories as Rosewood logged a 5-0 worksheet during the I-95 Duals contested at Northern Nash on Wednesday.
The Eagles earned dual-team wins over Northern Nash (57-21), Wilson Hunt (55-21), Rocky Mount (51-21), Nash Central (72-12) and Leesville Road (1-0).
Timothy Decatur-Luker, Chris Hill, Jordan Todd, Louis Tortual and Isaiah Kennedy each ended the night 3-0. Defending state 1-A champion Kaleb Taylor emerged victorious in two bouts along with Reid Amodeo, Dylan Melgar, Junior Almanza and Irvin Almanza.
Jayden Thomas, Jalen Spooner, Joey Behrend, Noah Carden, Michael Zagone and Tanner Smith recorded one win apiece.
Rosewood returns home Dec. 3 for a tri-meet against Princeton and Franklinton.
JV
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 82, Southern Wayne 64 -- Jarrod Scott pumped in 25 points for the Cougars. Teammates Damien Brown and Aaron Smith provided 21 and 13 points, apiece.
