* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 30, Goldsboro 21 -- Freshman Taylor Gay poured in a team-high 14 points as the Golden Falcons claimed a regular-season sweep of the Cougars over a five-day stretch. Freshman Sharon Moorefield provided nine points. Freshman Kania Slocum (five points) and sophomore Darilyn Lancaster (two) also contributed to the road win. Ruby Cannon and Nigeria Yelverton scored eight and six points, respectively, for the Cougars.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 61, Goldsboro Heat 37 -- Logan Jackson posted a double-double -- 12 points, 12 rebounds -- during the Eagles' home win. Jaxon Anderson provided 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot. Will White contributed nine points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists. Austin Strickland added eight points and six rebounds. Gavin Wiley and Jaxon Bauer logged six points and three rebounds apiece. Jeremy Bentley (five points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals) and Jayden Young (five points, two rebounds, three assists, one steal) also helped the Eagles offensively. Wilson Tabe pulled down three rebounds.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 59, Northwood Temple 42 -- Will Rose emerged as the Chargers' top scorer with 17 points. Cooper Edmonson tallied points. WCDS (4-0 overall) entertains Kestrel Heights on Tuesday.
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 70, C.B. Aycock 42 -- Damien Brown led three Cougars with 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Jarrod Scott added 13 points, while De'Quan Pigford scored 11 points. Sophomore Damone Greenfield dropped in 15 points for the Golden Falcons. Sophomore Tayquan Hampton scored seven points. Sophomore Muhammad Brooks and sophomore Tyler Daniels recorded six and five points, respectively.
