BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Fifth-seeded University of Mount Olive emerged victorious in the third set and built a six-point lead in the fourth set, but North Division rival King (Tenn.) claimed a 25-9, 25-14, 17-25, 25-23 victory in opening-round play of the 2015 Conference Carolinas women's volleyball tournament.

"We didn't come out strong tonight," second-year Trojans head coach Colby Mangum said. "We switched the lineup around, put some players in uncomfortable positions and they made it work. They worked especially hard and hustled on defense."

Alysha Burnett collected seven kills and two blocks. Sarah Watkins contributed five of her six kills, and three of her five blocks in the final two sets. Casey Fiechter recorded 15 digs defensively. Britni Johnson contributed nine digs, five kills and one service ace. Danielle Stachura provided eight digs.

The Trojans' three seniors all contributed in their final collegiate match. Nicole Karas logged 14 assists and eight digs. Danielle Plante posted five kills and one block. Morgan Morrissette delivered two kills.

"I'm really proud of the seniors tonight," Mangum said. "They did a great job of communicating and showed great leadership."

UMO ended the season 4-23 overall.
