1A soccer playoffs: Massengill, Barnes lead Rosewood

Stalen Massengill and Zack Barnes supplied two goals apiece during Rosewood's 5-0, opening-round conquest of Bear Grass Charter in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A playoffs Tuesday evening.
Barnes scored on assists from Ethan Chapin and Daniel Alberto. Chapin logged the Eagles' final goal on an assist from Barnes.
RHS keeper Tucker Chapin recorded one save between the pipes.
The 11th-seeded Eagles (15-5-1 overall) won a playoff opener for the first time since 2012 and return to action Saturday at sixth-seeded East Carteret. A game time has not been set.
