"I will do better next year to have this Wayne County meet run on time before the season is over. I apologize for the inconvenience and to the athletes who really like this event."
Sauls is the assistant superintendent for support/services with Wayne County Public Schools.
Rosewood swept the boys' and girls' team titles a year ago at historic Waynesborough Park. Allen Coor and Nichole Mehlhaff emerged as the individual male and female champion, respectively. Coor signed to play baseball at Limestone (S.C.) College.
Runners from Rosewood and Spring Creek are scheduled to compete in the Mideast 1-A Regional, which begins with the boys' race at 10:30 a.m. at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary.
Goldsboro will run in the East 2-A Regional at Washington High School. The boys' race starts at noon.
Competitors from Eastern Wayne, Charles B. Aycock and Southern Wayne will run in the East 3-A Regional at Northern Nash. The boys' race begins at 10:30 a.m.
