Eagles, Rebels combine for 1,001 yards of total offense

CALYPSO -- Mike Woodard, the area's leading rusher, rambled for a game-high 253 yards and four touchdowns as Rosewood defeated North Duplin, 55-42, in a Carolina 1-A Conference shootout at H.E. Grubbs Field on Friday evening.

Woodard's TD runs covered 35, 35, 37 and 55 yards.

Quarterback Cameron Helt added touchdown scampers of 74, 52 and 19 yards. Marquail Al-montaser returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown and successfully converted 7 of 8 PAT attempts.

Terrion Addison rushed a career-high 159 yards on 18 carries for the Rebels. JP Payton provided 145 yards and two touchdowns on 21 totes, while Emiliano Mora contributed 85 yards and two touchdowns.

The teams combined for 1,001 yards of total offense on a combined 106 offensive plays. Six of the 14 touchdowns scored covered 30 or more yards.

"It was a great game if you love offense," Rosewood head coach Robert Britt said. "Both teams played really hard. It was a very big win for us."

The Eagles (6-3 overall) remained in a three-way tie atop the league standings with state-ranked James Kenan and Lakewood. Rosewood entertains Spring Creek next Friday, while North Duplin (2-6 overall, 0-3 CC) is the guest of Princeton.
