PREPS DIGEST -- JV, middle schools

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 6, Greenfield 1 -- The Chargers conceded the game's first goal and answered with a six-goal outburst, including two "own" goals by the visiting Knights. Cooper Edmondson tied the game at 1-1 when he converted a corner kick from Drew Barnes. Nehemiya Shaw scored twice on assists from Frank Best and Rahul Patel. Marquise Newell tallied Wayne Country Day's final goal. The Chargers (13-0-1 overall) conclude regular-season play today at Freedom Christian.

* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Southern Wayne 25-16, 25-16 -- First-year Saints head coach Sarah Robertson cited the play of Alexus Eliott, Britney Moore and Olivia Carr.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. North Duplin 25-23, 19-25, 25-13 -- Toree Marak, Maddie Honn and Jala Holloman recorded four kills apiece. Braylee Butts and Allana Atwell each posted two kills. Butts dished out a team-high eight assists. Honn served three aces, while Holloman had two. Rosewood (11-7 overall) finished 8-4 against Carolina 1-A Conference opposition this season.

* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Greenfield 25-23, 25-13 -- Kyara Drew served seven aces and cranked out six kills. Katie Strickland supplied four aces and handed out four assists. Lexi Jeffreys provided a team-leading seven kills. Madison Britton had one ace and two kills. Cate Eagles passed out a team-best 11 assists. Jaden DisDier (two aces, two kills) and Graysen Jeffreys (one ace) also contributed to the straight-set win. The Chargers improved to 7-9 overall and 4-2 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play. They are the guests of North East Carolina Prep school on Monday.

* Volleyball: Lakewood d. Princeton 14-25, 25-23, 25-12 -- The Bulldogs concluded the year 11-7 overall and 9-3 in Carolina 1-A Conference play.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Dillard 25-10, 25-10, 25-12 -- The Gators scored 23 points with Shae Odom on serve in the first and second sets combined. Odom also served a team-high five aces. Alissa Price, Emily Dupuy and Amanda Haggerty also played well offensively. Spring Creek (10-1 overall) entertains Norwayne on Monday.

* Boys' soccer: Rosewood 6, Mount Olive 2 -- Jesus Baeza recorded a goal and an assist in the Eagles' win. Hayden Maldonado dished out two assists. Kyle Matthews, Logan Mitchell, Patrick Jones, Tyler Jordan and Logan Price each contributed one goal. Kevin Avilla and Rafael Ochoa scored for the Chargers. Rosewood (5-6-0 overall) and Mount Olive meet again next Tuesday at Mount Olive.

* Football: Norwayne 52, Greenwood 14 -- Alijuan Moore rushed for two touchdowns and hauled in a TD reception from quarterback Blake Dilda, who also added a rushing TD during the Cobras' win over the T-Birds on Thursday afternoon. Xavier Eutsey also scored a TD. Defensive leaders were Seth Shephard and Omar Tucker. Norwayne (5-0 overall) entertains Rosewood next Wednesday.

* Boys' soccer: Norwayne 5, Eastern Wayne 2 -- The Cobras improved to 7-2-2 overall and travel to Spring Creek next Monday.

* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Eastern Wayne 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 -- The Cobras (11-1 overall) conclude regular-season play at Spring Creek on Monday.
