Mercer's double-double pushes Eagles past Rebels

Lexi Mercer notched a double-double -- 18 kills, 13 digs -- as Rosewood upended North Duplin 25-14, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16 in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday afternoon.
It was the regular-season finale for both teams.
Mercer also had six blocks for the Eagles, who concluded league play with a 10-4 worksheet. Tayzlie Tripple pounded out 10 kills, while Carrie Beckert contributed six kills, two aces and eight digs.
Ada Rivera served five aces and handed out a match- and team-high 23 assists. Kaitlyn Kincaid dished out nine assists. Hannah Daniels provided four kills, while Hailey Weeks registered two kills, three aces and four digs.
Macy Tyndall picked up six digs.
Rosewood climbed to 13-8 overall.
Maddie Swinson collected three aces and Carly Powell turned in a five-kill effort for the Rebels. Elizabeth Thornton and Shaily McCarty combined for 11 digs. Rylee Pate distributed 13 assists.
Taylor Walker recorded five of the Rebels' eight blocks as a team.
North Duplin (7-11 overall) finished 6-8 in league play this season.
