Hobbton converted three shots in a penalty-kick shootout and handed Rosewood a 2-1 loss in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday evening at Branch Pope Field.
"Both teams played really, really good," Rosewood head coach Eddie Maldonado said. "We had chances, we just couldn't put them in the back of the net."
The Wildcats broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute.
"Their kid hit a great shot ... one of those shots that if you tried it 10 more times, he wouldn't make it. It was just bouncing around," Maldonado said.
Zack Barnes notched the equalizer on Ethan Chapin's assist in the 75th minute.
Stalen Massengill logged the Eagles' lone PK in the shootout.
Rosewood (10-5-1 overall, 6-2-1 CC) returns home Monday to face county and league rival Spring Creek. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
