GREENVILLE -- New Bern and Charles B. Aycock continued their season-long war on the team front, while Parker White and Fiona Pedrick -- once again -- dominated their respective competition in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet ran at Boyd Lee Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears upended the Golden Falcons, 48-60, in boys' action. White emerged as the top finisher in 17 minutes, 1.51 seconds -- more than half a minute faster than Johnathan Timothy of J.H. Rose, who crossed the line in 17:33.58.

Aycock's Joseph Mooneyham took third in 17:43.53.

Along with Mooneyham, four other Wayne County runners posted top-11 times on the 5k (5,000-meter) course. Southern Wayne's Cole Atwood claimed sixth in 18:32.29, while teammate Anthony Womble ended up 10th in 18:51.41.

The Golden Falcons' Deshawn Owens seized eighth place in 18:40.14. Eastern Wayne freshman Rudy Spears placed 11th in 19:00.29. The Warriors' next-highest runners were Zack Childers (26th place, 20:03.28) and Noah Bernard (32nd, 20:17.74).

As they have done all season. Pedrick and South Central's Chloe Cox remained the front runners on the girls' side. Pedrick turned in a meet-winning time of 19:38.17, while Cox posted a time of 19:52.26.

Aycock's tandem of Tara Price (23:50.51) and Sara Gregory (23:50.67) grabbed 21st and 22nd, respectively. Teammate Stewart Mackenzie finished 25th in 24:40.46.

A quartet of Southern Wayne runners crossed the line within seven places of each other. Samiya Bess (26:44.16) wound up 46th, while Ebony Fuller (26:44.50) took 47th. Elizabeth Lopez (26:56:06) and Arineda Morales (26:59.73) were 50th and 52nd, respectively.

Eastern Wayne's second-fastest runner was Olivia Durfey, who finished 59th in 27:31.14.

A total of 219 runners from the seven ECC schools competed in the meet. South Central edged D.H. Conley 34-42 to win the girls' team portion.
