Willman bounces back from opening-set loss

* WILSON -- Ally Willman rallied from an opening-set loss and Wayne Country Day -- the reigning two-time state 1-A independent schools champion -- dispatched Trinity Academy of Raleigh, 9-0.
Trinity's Anna Duggin cruised by Willman in their first set at No. 3 singles. Willman bounced back to win 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
Gianna Democko, Jennifer Potts, Eliza Eagles, Langley Barnes and Margaux Pope each collected a singles point. Democko-Potts, Willman-Eagles and Pope-Langley Barnes completed the sweep in doubles.
Wayne Country Day (9-1 overall) continues its six-match road swing Tuesday at Freedom Christian.
Volleyball
Lee Christian 3, Wayne Christian 0
* Lee Christian survived a close first set and eased past Wayne Christian 25-23, 25-14, 25-18 on the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference scene.
Libero Holley Gurley collected nine digs for in the Eagles' three-set loss. Hannah Sladick contributed eight kills, seven digs and one block. Brook Slusher provided three kills.
Emily Wells and Kasey Norris contributed 10 and seven assits, respectively.
Wayne Christian (10-10 overall, 1-4 CCC) is the guest of Goldsboro today.
