SEVEN SPRINGS -- The scoreboard read "Home 6, Visitor 8" in the first quarter of Friday evening's game at "The Swamp."
That quickly changed for Spring Creek in its first home game of the season.
Southside took off in the second quarter and won 50-14.
"We get overpowered and outmatched," Gators head coach Aaron Sanders said. "It is what it is. The effort was there and they were grinding. We (just) got outmatched."
Spring Creek junior quarterback Jessie Casper ran for a 10-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to put the Gators on the board, but his team didn't seal the two-point conversion to tie the game.
The Seahawks (5-0 overall) never looked back.
Southside senior running back Matt Baxter scored five touchdowns. Junior running back Joe Myers and senior running back Lawrence Brown each scored one touchdown for the Seahawks.
"Tonight was Matt's night," said Southside's head coach Jeff Carrow.
Carrow added that his team played sloppy at times, and he believes the offense needs improvement. However, the Seahawks' wing-T offense proved to be no match for the Gators.
Spring Creek persevered in the second half.
Casper rushed for 50 yards for a Gators' touchdown in the third quarter, and freshman wide receiver Dominique Morse made the two-point conversion. Casper accounted for 157 yards of total offense, including 116 passing.
Casper completed 10 passes -- six to Morse (35 yards) and Jamerion Dawson (81 yards, touchdown).
Najee Young led the Gators' defense with seven tackles. Malik Sutton added six tackles.
Xavion Garcia sacked the Seahawks' quarterback Johnny Sullivan shortly after halftime and finished with six stops on the night. Nick Strickland recorded four tackles and recovered a Seahawks fumble.
Spring Creek (2-3 overall) opens Carolina 1-A Conference play at Lakewood next Friday.
