Princeton defeats Spring Creek in Carolina 1A tennis

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Princeton claimed tie-breakers at Nos. 1 and 2 singles during its 8-1 triumph over Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek on Thursday afternoon.
Top-seeded Katie Smale, a senior, turned back the Gators' Grace West 6-2, 7-6 (3). Second-seeded Bailey Martin, a senior, outlasted Cassie Alphin 6-2, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (9-7). Teammates Mackenzie Evans, Emily Shallington and Cailee Vetrano also prevailed in singles play.
The Bulldogs (3-5 overall) swept the doubles courts with wins by Smale-Martin, M. Evans-Shallington and Carrie Woodard-Vetrano.
