* Volleyball: Lawrence Academy d. Wayne Country Day 25-22, 25-16 -- Cate Eagles led the Chargers with five service aces, one kill, two digs and six assists. Madison Britton provided two aces, three kills and three digs. Jaden DisDier collected two aces, one kill and two digs. Katie Strickland had four assists and three digs. Graycen Jeffreys supplied a team-high six aces and had three digs. WCDS (2-6 overall) visits Pope John Paul II Catholic HS today.
* Volleyball: Princeton d. North Duplin 25-10, 25-15 -- Princeton (7-4 overall) remained unbeaten in five Carolina 1-A Conference outings this season.
* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Goldsboro 25-22, 25-10 -- McKayla Roberts posted six blocks in the Cougars' three-set loss. Nikki Olmsted served four aces, while Caroline Foy had five aces. Fayth Serlick led the defense with 10 digs. Goldsboro opens its Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference season today against North Lenoir. Taliyah Green led Aycock with five kills and six digs. Taylor Gay served five aces. Hannah Carter and McKenzie Norris handed out four assists apiece.
Middle schools
* Boys' soccer: Greenwood 9, Dillard 0 -- Juan Ospino recorded a hat trick (three goals) in the T-Birds' victory. Santiago Borda and Kevin Avila Huerta each collected two goals. Jonathan Bautista and Julian Jones each had one goal. Greenwood improved to 2-0-1 overall.
