Atwood, Thomas lead Saints in XC meet

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne's Cole Atwood ran the 5k course in 18 minutes, 46 seconds and finished fourth individually during a three-team Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet Wednesday afternoon.
Teammates Bless Thomas (19:00) and Anthony Womble (19:25) crossed the finish line in fifth and eight place, respectively.
New Bern's Parker White won the meet in 16:40.
On the girls' side, the Saints' Nadia Chestnutt posted a personal-best time of 24:33 -- good enough for seventh overall.
