Aycock golfers take match at Cardinal CC

KENLY -- Charles B. Aycock edged Rosewood 160-163 in a five-team, non-conference match contest on the Cardinal Country Club links Tuesday afternoon.
Rosewood's Lindsey Burton earned medalist honors with a 43. Aycock's Abby Sauls took second with a 48 and teammate Leah Campbell claimed third with a 53. Anna Williams completed the Golden Falcons' team total with a 59.
North Johnston placed third at 164, followed by Goldsboro (176) and Wayne Christian (177).
Helen Keck paced Goldsboro with a 57. Teammates Tracy Smith and Scarlette Casey shot 59 and 60, respectively.
Grace Buddin emerged as Wayne Christian's low scorer with a 58. Cassidy Davis carded a 59 and Kelsey Saunders provided a 60.
Kathryn Jones (60) and Amanda Murphy (62) represented Southern Wayne.
On Monday, Aycock placed second in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet. Sauls shot a 44, followed by Campbell with a 55 and Williams with a 66.
New Bern emerged as the team top team with a three-player total of 142 -- 13 strokes lower than the Golden Falcons.
