The four-week Wayne County Junior Tour concluded play last Thursday. Participants were Joey Democko (12-14 boys' winner), Chandler Joyner (11-year-old co-ed winner), Kelly Lewis (14-older girls' runner-up), Lindsey Burton (14-older girls' winner), Dylan Champion (15-older boys' runner-up) and Blake Floars (15-older boys' winner). It was the first year that the WCJA committee opted for a four-week, nine-hole tournament format instead of a one-day, 18-hole tournament. The players received a 15-minute lesson before play and their respective finishes were calculated through a points system. "We taught them practice tips as well as well as course management, and etiquette," said WCJA committee representative Jeremy Joyner. "Our goal as a committee is to grow junior golf with the kids in Wayne County. We would like to thank the golf courses and the parents for making our event a very successful one."
