Defending champion Jeremy Joyner opened with a 4-over 76.
Stan Adams and Grant Webber shared the Senior Division lead with identical even-par 72s. Jeff Jackson, the 2014 champion, and Kenny Moore were one stroke back at 73.
Four-time winner John Zambelli, who has a mantel full of WCMA titles, ended up with a tournament-low 68 and seized a five-stroke lead over Roland Gurley in Super Senior Division play. Danny Stockwell and Rich Walderman are three strokes back of Gurley at 76.
Another former champion, Mickey Nance, and Donald Shaver are tied atop the leaderboard at 3-over par 75 in the Masters Division. Nance won the Super Senior Division in 2003.
