ECBL: Chapin throws 5-hitter over 6-inning stretch

DUDLEY -- Ethan Chapin scattered five hits over a six-inning stretch as Wayne Country Day knocked off Southern Wayne, 6-4, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League game Wednesday afternoon.
Chapin yielded four runs (two earned) on three walks and retired 12 Saints batters on strikeouts. He added an RBI hit on offense.
Boone Moody tossed one inning of two-strikeout relief to preserve the road win.
Amane Godo emerged as the Chargers' offensive leader with two hits and an RBI. Mitch Turnage (RBI), Drew Barnes (RBI), Moody and Nick Neal also contributed offensively in hot, muggy conditions.
Wayne Country Day (6-4 overall) plays host to Spring Creek today. The doubleheader, a pair of five-inning games, begins at 4 p.m.
